A State Commemoration was held at the GPO on Sunday, 27th March 2016 to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. A Military Parade, made up of components of organisations such as the Defence Forces, Gardaí, Dublin Fire Brigade and the RNLI marched from Stephen’s Green through Dublin’s city centre past the GPO. A ceremony was held outside the GPO which included a reading of the Proclamation and laying of a wreath on behalf of the Irish People. The President, Taoiseach and Lord Mayor of Dublin were in attendance at this commemorative event. This event was part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme which won the Special Recognition Award and the Irish Tourism Industry Awards 2017.
EOBA acted as Safety Consultants for this event and worked closely with the Department of the Taoiseach, the OPW and Defence Forces throughout the planning process. Services provided included: preparation of drawings; preparation of Event Management Plan, carried out Risk Assessments, conducted capacity analyses; liaised with Statutory Agencies, collected and reviewed safety documentation; conducted site induction training; developed and ran a tabletop exercise, and acted as PSDP and PSCS for the event build. In addition to this, EOBA provided an Event Controller, Event Logger and Safety Officers for the event.
