Emergency Covid19 Legislation
The Government has enacted emergency legislation on the 26th March which will have an impact on the processing of Fire Safety Certificates (FSCs) and Disability Access Certificates (DACs). The provisions of the Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Covid-19) Act 2020 enables Building Control Authorities to extend the period required to assess applications without the necessity to agree extensions of time with an applicant. This means that FSC or DAC applications have no time limit as to when they must be processed. This provision only last for the duration that the Act applies i.e. the Covid-19 emergency period.
