The Crossrail Project – Station Platform Baggage Fire Size
The Crossrail Project is a new high capacity railway line for London, began in 2009. Mary Sheehan, one of EOBA’s leading engineers, contributed an article to Crossrail Project: Infrastructure Design and Construction – Volume 5, which is a collection of technical papers from consultants, contractors, and suppliers involved in the project.
Mary and her associate Sarah Ward, issued a paper establishing ‘Design Fire Sizes’ for the purposes of calculating various system/s (such as ventilation and fire suppression, detection etc) so that the characteristics and performance of such equipment can be specified in the design as adequate for the foreseen hazard/risk.
